On our way down to Tucson, we stopped in a town called Truth or Consequences (formally known as Hot Springs), New Mexico. We spent a couple days relaxing on our way down.

We had rented a place in our favorite facility in Oro Valley, just north of Tucson. While we are looking for a place to buy, we have rented a few times and find that that area has great access to hiking, biking, good restaurants and lovely weather.

One day while we were in Tucson, a couple friends that I had met in the hot tub and I hiked to the top of Picacho Peak. As you can see, from the highway it looks completely insurmountable, but there is a way to get to the top! There are numerous cable routes and steep surfaces along the way but well worth it.

Speaking of that hot tub, we spent almost every evening enjoying that! And we met some friends, both hiking and just neighbors. One above, (Julia) challenged me to an arm wrestle to pay the bill for dinner. You can see that I probably won, which I did! And then on a bike rides we ran into a friendly horse who wanted some company.

Reluctantly leaving Tucson, we headed up through Moab, Utah, then stopping in Glenwood Springs for a few days to avoid the snow which we knew was clogging roads in Colorado.

Arriving back in Boulder, we had the good fortune to stay with our nephew and niece, Daniel and Tori, who have an amazing house with plenty of room. It was kind of weird to be staying in Boulder and not staying at our house, but we all made it work, obviously.
