Days when we get an apartment for a couple nights in a city are great. We get some extended time out of the sun, sleep in a real bed, watch Netflix at night and are able to shop for groceries and cook for ourselves. And we get a whole day to do normal stuff, meaning not just ride our bikes.
This stay included sending excess stuff onward, buying new stuff, figuring out how to buy and activate a data SIM for my phone, getting a haircut, doing laundry and then exploring the town.
Joan of Arc lived here almost 600 years ago, a heroine commemorated in statues, street names and in her restored house.

A short walk from the statue of Jeanne d’Arc, we visited the cathedral and were lucky to arrive just as a wedding was starting. The sound and power of the pipe organ was AMAZING! And the cathedral is grand.

Then, while exploring we saw a barber shop and I needed a haircut. The barber was just finishing a customer, and so we stepped into the shop. Once we started chatting, the barber, who was Moroccan, was excited for me to talk to his friend in the US who lives in Chicago (…well, actually Texas) and drives a taxi. He called him in his cab and we exchanged a few words. The barber was excited. He went to town on my hair, and Chris captured the event. €10 later, I was much lighter looking!

The town center has many old half timbered houses and ornate ironwork like New Orléans

Finally, we paused for a drink and a snack of a cheese plate before heading back to the apartment. Good day.
