After months of living on the road with bikes as our sole mode of transport and wearing the same clothes every day, we are off to Paris to visit our friend Héloïse, followed by short jaunts to Liverpool and London before jetting back to Bratislava. So as to not embarrass ourselves (and our friends) in the big, stylish cities, we went on a mini shopping spree to get some new clothes.
A couple months ago, planning to go to Finland, we left some street clothes at our friend Helene’s house near London. But we won’t be there until the end of this segment of the trip, when we pick up bike cases and our big suitcases to bring back to Bratislava, in preparation to return to the US in October for a bit.
For the next couple weeks, we’ll leave our bikes and all our camping gear in Bratislava and travel with minimal luggage to our various locations. We’ll be back to Bratislava in early September for the month. After months of slowly crossing Europe on bike, this is a lot of movement.

One major reason we are in Bratislava is that we will be taking care of Martin’s dog Doris while he is gone for 3 weeks in September. We got some training and introduction to her this trip and will overlap with Martin and Doris for a couple days before he leaves!

We boarded a bus in Bratislava for Vienna airport this morning. We crossed the Danube on our way out, much bigger than when we first saw it. In a few hours, we’ll land in Paris!
