Vietnam Vaccinations and a Brisbane Urban Art Walk

With our plans to go to Vietnam in April, we needed to review and get needed vaccinations well in advance of us traveling. I had some previous vaccinations from a trip to Colombia in 2009, and Chris probably had been vaccinated fully for her job as an “air hostess” (now known as a flight attendant) working on flights to India, Africa, and Arabia in 1989-90, but neither of us could find our little yellow vaccination cards. I luckily had records of my vaccinations from the state immunization registry, so I had something. Saved me one shot.

We made an appointment with a travel medicine clinic in downtown Brisbane. In the end we got 4 shots each: Japanese Encephalitis, Typhoid, Hepatitis A&B and Rabies. We’ll get our 2nd rabies shot in Auckland, 7 days after the first shot here in Brisbane. Lots of rabid dogs in Vietnam, although their reputation is that they are not prone to chasing bikes. Better to be safe than sorry, we thought. Although it was expensive, getting seriously ill overseas is something we want to avoid.

Arms pulsating, we took a leisurely stroll though downtown Brisbane with Katherine and Andrew, using a map showing public artworks. Most are attached or part of a building, although some are just on the street.

Another reminder I have to get my tax information to Jay.
