Redon is at the crossroad of two rivers and a canal that goes from Nantes to Brest, a distance of about 240 miles (385km).
We entered Redon on a towpath on La Viliane river from Rennes, and stayed for three nights. Redon is much smaller and less cosmopolitan than Rennes, so we had plenty of time to relax since there is not that much to explore! Seems like more of a working class town. There are some old half-timber structures and ancient buildings.
In the old port there is an area that someone told us has “nice graffiti” on it, and so we visited – really cool and amazing. More like public art than graffiti.
We did small chores and some sightseeing on our first full day here, and did some route planning for what might be our next stages of travel.
Today, we identified a nice place to have lunch about 11 miles up the canal and rode our bikes up there. Fab lunch and nice ride!
On the way there we passed an outdoor adventure center with a bunch of young kids who were on their last extracurricular adventure of the school year. The place was amazing! Kids climbing up cliffs, zip lining, and doing all manner of exciting things! Having a great time!
