So, not really knowing the word for paddle board in French, I asked the chilled out server at the beach bar near the board rental place and he pursed his lips in that oh-so-French way and said “ah, le paddle-board.”
So I guess that’s it, you just have to be cool and say the same word with a strong French accent, like Steve Martin once proposed. However, Google Translate says paddle board in French is “planche à pagaie”, but I got it from the source. 😎 Anyway, Chris rented a board for an hour and I drank beer at the beach bar and acted as the biographer. We were both very happy.
Chris began the day with a nice cup of tea and Wordle in the tent, so everything started out properly, even in a tent. Lawrence of Arabia didn’t have Wordle but I’m sure he had other diversions in his tent.
We stayed a couple nights at the Bel Air Camp Ground in Pornichet, close to the beach and having all manner of amenities like a pool, bar, restaurant, cute front desk staff and more mundane things like nice showers and places to wash clothes and dishes. They even have some cats hanging around which is of great interest to Chris..
And, we get to see the pretty nice new swim suit, huh?
Our site is mostly covered with grass with a few sandy patches. There are other tent campers but we are definitely the minority. One thing that is amazing to me is that VW makes all these cool camper vans that we don’t have in the US. I’m jealous!
