The weather forecast was for rain today, so I decided to try to see some landmarks before heading to the famous baths.
I took a walking tour of the Pest part of Budapest using my bike. Budapest is separated by the Danube river into its original towns, Buda, Óbuda and Pest. In 1873 they were united into what we now know as a Budapest. I would have liked to explore the region of Buda as well, but I didn’t have time since it seemed that rain was imminent by mid afternoon. (and boy did the rain come!)
Hungarian Parliament Building
Shoes on the Danube Bank
St. Stephen’s Basilica
Great Synagogue
Great Market Hall (Nagyvasarcsarnok)
Széchenyi Thermal Bath
I made it back to the apartment through the puddles of rain, and then went to the same restaurant I had gone to the night before. I had beet and goat cheese salad and good beer and then amazing goulash and Hungarian red wine and then some Hungarian apricot liqueur which was all quite delicious. A really nice day that barely scratched the surface of the depth of Budapest.
