My calendar tells me that we returned from Cambodia one month and 20 days ago, and it’s been actually a very busy time. I think both Chris and I are looking forward to getting back on the road and being able to settle into the routine of long distance bike touring and camping again.
We’ve visited with friends, attended a family reunion, worked on our houses and gardens, drove through a June hailstorm that decimated gardens, prepared camping gear and bikes for the next adventure, cooked scads of dinners, and pored over maps and routes. Then, Chris’ and my paths diverged for a couple weeks. Chris traveled to the UK for a couple weeks and returned to the US on the Queen Mary with her friend Jane, berthing in NY where I met them. Chris and I then spent 5 days at my brother’s place in Brooklyn, being tourists and visiting my step mother whom I like very much. And now we are away to attend a wedding. And that’s just the stuff that I remember!

We are heading to France on July 20th, passing through Charles de Gaulle airport to take a train to Morlaix, and then starting on an 80-day bike trip, from Brittany to Madrid, where we will meet up with Katherine and Andrew to travel with them for 10 days, then riding up the west coast of Portugal towards Santiago, Spain. At least that’s the current plan. It’s about 2,200 miles (3,500km)

We’ve stayed in a multitude of houses and slept in many beds during this time, but still not our own, but it’s getting closer. We should be able to move back into our house when we get back in October! It’ll be really nice to have a steady place where we keep everything (until the next trip!)
