The last couple of days we have been cycling in Burgundy, and the landscape, architecture and wines have changed. So last night we drank a very nice bottle of Macon recommended by the bartender at the campsite we are staying at Palinges. Yes, there’s a bartender at the campsite. 😎 Beer was good too.
We also shared a pretty nice steak for dinner that was cooked on a hot stone with frites and dipping sauces. Nice campground! This is no KOA.

There was also a very friendly donkey just across the fence at our site who made pals with Chris, and who ate all the carrots I had been carrying as well as some cashews. He was a very happy donkey.

Mornings start with coffee for me and tea for Chris. We have a small stove with us and so I boil water when I get up and get things started. We often boil some hard boiled eggs that we eat for lunch. Eggs here are often available in cartons of four or at worst six. We buy a small container of UHT milk the night before so we have milk for tea/coffee and my muesli.

Today’s stop for coffee and culture was Paray-le-Monial. It was completely random to stop here, but most towns are lovely so our chances were good. This one has a big 11th century basilica and is an important pilgrimage site. Interesting history here: http://www.lourdes-fr.com/en/shrines/paray-le-monial.htm

The campsite even had a cat! This one is named Chapeau.
